Our trip to Washington D.C

We had a great day in the city - our purpose was to observe internationals, eat in an ethnic restaurant and share the gospel with those as we had opportunity. Overall it was a good day - we ate at a West African restaurant called Sumah's by Howard University. I think some of the regulars were surprised to see white people in there - but they were very friendly. We were able to share the gospel with the owner, Sumah. He was very gracious and very Muslim. The food was amazing. We had peanut butter sauce with rice, stewed okra, cassava leaves, jollof rice and some other types of leaves. It was great - a little spicy, which Faith wasn't too happy about. Our favorite was the peanut butter sauce. Typical African service - when we ordered drinks - Sumah's wife walked out of the restaurant and went to the convenience store to get them!

This is Sumah and his wife. They are from Sierre Leone - they were very warm and hospitable.

We have confirmed airline reservations and will receive our tickets by Wednesday - we fly out of Dulles on October 2nd at 10:15 pm and will arrive in Paris around 11:50 am and then fly out of Paris at 4:40 pm and arrive in Mali at 8:20. It is all very real at this point. Pray that the details will all come together. Our last week and 1/2 here is very busy with meeting with the regional team and finalizing all of the plans. We go get our international drivers license tomorrow and then lots of meetings. Somewhere in there, we will need to carefully pack so that each suitcase has the right weight. Thanks for your prayers. We would LOVE to pray for you, so feel free to let us know how we can!

You all look very good in front of the White House --- I am writing you in Ron!

The food looks similar to Haitian food - I thought the meat was goat at first glance.

Love to you all from here!

The food has that pre-chewed look to it but I would eat it anyway. Not that I have a very discriminating palette; except when it comes to cheesecake. But that's enough about that painful topic.
