Fun in the Sun - Happy Mother's Day

We had a great weekend hanging with the Duncans in Emerald Isle, NC. The weekend was filled with sun, food, talks, laughter, and lots of lightning. We got slammed with a storm Friday night, Sunday morning, and then during the drive home too! It was very cool to see that much lightning all around us.

Amy and I had a great Mother's Day - we got great handmade cards and lots of hugs and kisses. Sunday allowed us to worship together as a family. It was neat to see what we have in store as a house church.

Thanks Duncans for letting us hang with you guys at your Uncle's house and for your sweet prayers for us. We love you! Thanks Uncle Claude!

Zach turns 12

It is hard to believe that our baby boy is turning 12 tomorrow - just seems like yesterday that this ginormous (11 lbs 4 oz) boy was brought into this world. We have had the pleasure of watching him grow into a fine young man. We look forward to his becoming a mighty man of God! His enthusiasm and thirst for knowledge is great. He loves reading, playing soccer and he plays a mean trumpet. Have a great day Zach!

Under Contract

We have officially signed all of the papers to become homeless! Although a terrifying prospect - it is an answer to prayer. We will officially close on our house May 28th. We will then truly be homeless until June 9th when we start our travelling. God truly has been gracious throughout this process and are so thankful for His provision. We have appreciated all of your prayers and are so thankful for your friendship and love for us. Another note - if you are going on vacation any time between July 18th and August 4th and are looking for some really reliable housesitters let us know! Love you guys!

Our baby girl turned 7

It is hard to imagine that 7 years ago, I gave birth to our sweet daughter Faith! She has been a joy to parent! She is funny, sensitive, and very loving. There is not a day that goes by that she doesn't tell Ron or I how much she loves us. She loves her teachers both at school and at church. When she grows up she wants to be a teacher! She loves playing with her babies, reading and playing with her brothers. She is excited about going to Africa, although she doesn't want to eat fish heads! Happy Birthday Faith! I will upload a picture later - blogger is giving me fits!

We are official!

After 14 months of paperwork, interviews, more paperwork, more interviews, under the light bulb probing, and lots of prayer we have been officially appointed by the International Mission Board. Our lives will be very hectic getting ready for the next 3 1/2 months. Our timeline is as follows: travel to MD June 9th - stay there until June 19th - leave for NY for a training staying there until July 4th - from there travel to the beach for a week - travel back to NC and then leave for orientation in Richmond August 5th through October 2nd - leave for Bamako, Mali on October 4th.

There will be a service celebrating completion of orientation on September 30th in Richmond, VA. Since this is a Tuesday, we know this makes it difficult, but if available, we would love to see you there. We will continue to keep you posted on all of our goings on! We still have not sold our house, but we ask for your continued prayers. We appreciate all of you so much!
